United States Conference of Catholic Bishops 

The Gospel of Christ and the teachings of his Church guide the work of the USCCB. The work of the Conference is rooted in three general mission goals and organized into three key areas of responsibility.

  • To act collaboratively and consistently on vital issues confronting the Church and society
  • To foster communion with the Church in other nations, within the Church universal, under the leadership of its supreme pastor, the Roman Pontiff
  • To offer appropriate assistance to each bishop in fulfilling his particular ministry in the local Church

Catholic Home Study Services

Catholic Home Study Service (CHSS), sponsored by the Vincentian community and the Missouri Knights of Columbus, has been offering free courses on the Catholic Faith for more than seventy years. It is based at Saint Mary’s of the Barrens, historic “motherhouse”of the Vincentian Community in America. Father Oscar Lukefahr, C.M. is the Director of Catholic Home Study Service.

The Center for Liturgy Sunday Website 
Announcing an innovative web site designed to prepare for Sunday Mass. The site, liturgy.slu.edu, is for all Catholics, including the people in the pews, and comes from Saint Louis University’s Center for Liturgy. It gives you easy access to the readings for Sunday, and then lets you enter into them in a way that fits you. This website provides: 1. Links to Sunday’s readings. 2. Prayers based on each reading for private prayer. 3. Spiritual reflections and insights from the readings; 4. Information and interpretation of the readings. 5. Listings of Sunday’s music from selected parishes around the country.
